Registering players into your team:

Captains are encouraged to register the players for their team using the automated online system – “Add Players to Roster”. Teams can register as many players as they wish per season, we suggest around 10 players for 5-a-side and 15 for 7-a-side across a season.

Guest players:

As a social venue, we also allow teams to have guest players if they are short in players one week and have cleared it with the Elite staff beforehand. “Guest players” are players who are only playing as a 1 off. Guest players cannot play in finals. This is expected to be kept to a minimum where possible. Elite Football is committed to making sure each team gets a proper and fair game.

Shin Pads / Footwear:

We highly recommend shin pads to be worn but they are not compulsory. All players play at their own risk at Elite Football and are fully aware of the increased possibility of injury without proper safety equipment.

Elite Football is the only place where you can get your outdoor boots on! However, NO metal stud/screws are allowed. We recommend indoor boots, turf boots, or outdoor boots with rubber studs. Bladed soles and screws in footwear are not advised due to an increased chance of personal injury.

Teams will receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. League position will be decided by points gained, followed by goal difference, followed by goals scored, followed by the aggregate result between the two teams in question. For League matches a maximum of 7 players (including 1 keeper) may be on the field per game. Teams exceeding 7 players on the field will automatically lose the match 10-0. Teams who play a suspended player will automatically lose the match 10 – 0. A suspended player will still have to serve his suspension even though the team has been punished this match will not count as a match which the player has missed.

Kick off, forfeits & Fees:

Teams are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointed kick off time. The teams must pay their game fee upfront and show the receipt to the referee to allow the commencing of the match. Split payments are not allowed. Teams must be on the pitch and ready to begin the match at the appointed kick-off time. If a team is 5 minutes late at management’s discretion, they may start the match 0-3 down. Teams may be replaced at any stage of the season. Replacement teams inherit the scores, schedule and points of their predecessors where appropriate. Teams failing to appear for their designated match, will have the match awarded to their opponents 10 – 0, for repeated absence the team may be removed from the League (2 absences). The offending team will be due to pay for both their match fees and their opponents match fees if they do not show up ($240). If they give 24hours advanced notice they will pay a game and a half fee ($180). This payment will be taken automatically from the designated debit/ credit card on file on the day. In the event that a team refuses to play another team the match will be awarded to the other team 10 – 0. The team who refuse to play will pay a full cancellation/ no show fee ($240). Teams will be required to pay 3 matches in advance prior to the commencement of the tournament. This fee will then be used as credit towards your last 3 games only. This is separate to the cancelation fee mentioned in the paragraphs above. This fee cannot be used to pay off a cancellation fee. This fee has been put in place in order for a greater percentage of games to be played, for less forfeits to occur, to attract more serious teams and have an overall better tournament. (Elite Football may increase or decrease this fee depending on the tournament.) In the event that a team refuses to complete a match that has already started, the match will be awarded to the other team 10 – 0. If the score at the time produces a goal difference greater than 10-0 then that score will stand.

Match Schedules will be listed list at the start of each season and will be posted on the website www.elitefootballcentre.com.au/leagues . For 7 a side matches a team may field six outfield players and a goalkeeper on the pitch at any one time. For 5 a side matches a team may field 4 outfield players and a goalkeeper on the pitch at any one time. Mixed games must have 2 female players outfield at all times for 5-a-side.

Substitutions are unlimited during the game, can be made at any time as long as the referee is aware, and the substitution happens quickly. Outgoing substitutes must leave the field of play before the replacement enters the playing area. Substitutes must stand outside the pitch perimeter and spectators must not enter the field of play under any circumstances.

Changing your goalkeeper:

Teams can change their goalkeeper during the game but only when the ball is dead, and the referee must be notified.

Wearing Jewellery:

The wearing of any form of jewellery (including but not limited to watches, earrings, bracelets, necklaces) is not advised during play. Jewellery can get caught easily and also injure yourself and/or other players. Referees may refuse to allow players to play with inappropriate footwear, without shin pads and/or who are wearing any form of jewellery that the referee believes is a possible hazard.

Match Length:

The match will consist of two equal halves. The length of half will be 20 mins unless determined by Elite Football. The first half will begin with one team kicking off from the centre; the second half will begin with the other team kicking off from the centre. After a goal has been scored the game will be re-started by the team who conceded the goal kicking off from the centre. Both teams must be in their own half at kick off. Play is not live until the ball is played after the referee’s whistle.

General Match Rules:

(These Rules are not exhaustive and may be added to or amended at any time) Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed to play the ball inside the goal area and only they may handle the ball in this area. The goalkeeper can return the ball into play by throwing it or kicking it. The goalkeeper can only score if he plays the ball from the ground, the ball must be placed on the ground and be stationary before he kicks it. No drop kick goals are allowed. No slide tackles are allowed. Infringement of this rule will lead to a free kick being awarded against the offending players’ team, a player who commits a slide tackle will receive an automatic yellow card. Players ARE allowed to slide when the ball is not contested. (Example: sliding to keep a ball in play that is not contested by any other players nearby) When a ball goes out of play, play will either be restarted by a kick in, a corner, or a goal kick depending on the location at which the ball went out of play. Goals cannot be scored from a kick in if no one touches the ball once it goes into play. If the ball hits the top net of the pitch, play will be restarted from an appropriate position on the sideline as a kick in for the opposing team. The opposing players must remain 2 metres from the corner, kick ins or free kicks and allow the player to turn and play the ball. Any opposing player who goes too close and interferes with play will be penalized with a yellow card. Free kicks may be direct or indirect at the referee’s discretion. The Goalkeeper must be on the goal line when a penalty is being taken. Penalties will be taken as “no-step” penalty. If any doubt, Referees will demonstrate prior to the penalty. The Referees decision on all on-field matters is final and no discussions will be entered into either on or off the field with them about any decision. The Referees jurisdiction on disciplinary matters will apply until players have entered the changing rooms. Players repeatedly disputing decisions may have further disciplinary action taken against them. Teams with a valid complaint against a match official must put in formal complaint in writing within 48 hours of the said match. The complaint should be addressed to Elite Football Centre Management, who will make a decision. This decision is final and will be given within 2 business days. A player sent off for a second offence may be suspended for a minimum of 1 WEEK. A straight red card will result in an automatic 1 WEEK suspension. In the case of serious foul play, or foul or abusive language the suspension may be extended should Elite Football deem this necessary.

From 2020 onwards, referee’s will now have the option of handing out a “blue card”. This card will be used at the referee’s discretion when they believe a player needs to go off the field for a bit of time to “cool down”. This card may be used instead of handing out a Red Card or a Yellow Card at the referee’s discretion. Players who receive a Blue Card must go off the field for a minimum of 5 minutes, if the team of the player which received a blue card has substitute players available, they may be used to replace the player who received the blue card. Once the 5 minutes are up, the referee will decide if the offending player is eligible to return to play. If the referee deems the player to not be behaving in a sportsman like manner, the referee may choose to extend their suspension time for the match or give out a yellow or red card. If a red card is given to the player while they are not on the field, the offending team may continue to play with their current on field players. If any player is given a red card while on the field they must play with one less player.

Forfeiting/Abondining match:

If a team has 3 players or less for any reason the match will end. The result will be awarded 10-0 to their opponents. If the score at the time produces a goal difference greater than 10-0 then that score will stand. If a match is abandoned for any reason the team at fault will receive a 10-0 defeat unless the opposing team already has a greater advantage in which case the score will stand. If both teams are judged to be at fault, the game will be void and both teams may be deducted 5 points at the discretion of Elite Football Management.

Violent Conduct:

Violent conduct on or off the pitch will result in the immediate suspension of the individual and could result in a ban from all Elite Football premises. Elite Football reserves the right to ban an individual or team from further participation in any or all activities within Elite. Any teams found not cooperating with Elite Football could be removed from the league program. Please be aware that Elite Football has security cameras all around the inside and outside of our centre, these cameras may then be used to make a decision on any incidents if necessary. Referees, staff and patrons of Elite Football must be treated with respect from all teams. Teams found guilty of abusing referees, staff and/or patrons will be removed from the Leagues, as will Teams in persistent breach of these Rules. The decision of Elite Football management in all matters pertaining to the administration of the league is final.

4 teams will make the Semi Finals. The bottom 2 will meet in a Wooden Spoon playoff match, with the loser being awarded the Wooden Spoon. These finals will take place the week after your League fixtures have finished. The Finals have already been scheduled on your Fixture List so please have a look at this. Games will be 40 minutes and match fees will apply to both Quarter and Semi Final matches. If you win your Quarter Final, you’ll progress to the Premier series Semi-Finals, and the losing 4 teams will proceed to the Championships Finals series Semi-Finals. Elite Football reserves the right to make adjustments to the Finals Fixture and will notify teams 3 weeks prior to the Finals taking place. Welcome to Semi Finals! Here your team will play a 40 minute Game (match fee applies). If you are successful you will then progress to the GRAND FINAL on the same night! The Grand Final (no match fees) will be played on the SAME NIGHT as the Semi allowing you a brief rest period to prepare your team. Semi Finals and Grand Finals are both 40 minute games as are Junior Leagues. Teams must field the same players in the Finals as they used throughout the season. Finals in all competitions will see the “Challenge Rule” brought into play. The Challenge Rule is based in the Finals part of the Season only. The Challenge can ONLY be made in the first 2 minutes of the Finals if a player thought not to be part of the squad enters the field of play. The Rule in place allows a team to make a Challenge against the Opposition to the Referee if they feel a team has fielded an ineligible team who haven’t played in their Comp during the Season. The Referee will then speak with Management who will then make a decision, which is final. This rule has been brought in to stop teams fielding higher grade players in lower grade Leagues just for Finals.
